Here at Simply You I teach you how to wear colour in your colour consultation – there are no rules about what colours you can and can’t wear.

What do I mean by this?

Well, there might be some items of clothing in colours that are not in your colour palette. But that doesn’t matter – if you love a colour it’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it and how you make it work for you.

Take this dress from Aspiga. I absolutely love this dress and when I saw it I knew I had to have it.

  • The style of the dress is perfect for my neat hourglass figure and classic/natural style personality.
  • The fabric is organic cotton so lightweight and breathable for hot sunny days.
  • The dress is full length and the shirred waistline flatters my neat hourglass figure.

However, the colours of the pattern on the dress are actually soft fuchsia and grey green in the soft colour palette. My colour palette is deep cool clear, so these two colours are not actually my colour palette. So, how do I make this dress work?

The background colour is navy blue and as a deep I can wear a dark colour from head to toe successfully. With navy blue as the background colour, I can wear this dress and wear it well as this is the dominant colour of the dress and that suits my deep colour palette. The pink and grey green in the beautiful floral pattern on the dress are less dominating colours overall.

Psst …. the dress is actually light navy but this doesn’t matter because it is still a deep colour. Dark navy is actually the navy blue in my deep colour palette but there’s so little difference between light and dark navy it’s still works .

I love wearing this dress and it is so versatile, I can dress it up or down for any occasion.
